One of the best things about staying at Midway Gulch is what's waiting just steps away.
Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area sits right across the highway. Lewis and Clark Lake, a reservoir of the Missouri River, is practically a stone's throw away. Lake Yankton sits peacefully on the east side of the dam, a short drive away.
Whether you're the type to be on the water by sunrise or perfectly happy to find a shady spot and cast a line all afternoon, there's something here for every kind of outdoor enthusiast.

In addition to camping, here are a few activities people enjoy just across the road:

Bike Trails
Enjoy over 6 miles of paved bike paths - much of it waterfront - for walking, running, and biking

Fishing
Catch walleye, perch, paddlefish, carp, pike, and more in Lewis and Clark Lake, the Missouri River, or Lake Yankton.

Swimming
Choose from a variety of swimming beaches where you can cool off in the water or hang on the sand.

Hiking
Hike with epic views of the Missouri River! Choose a casual 1.2 mile recreational trail or a challenging 4.1 mile multi-use trail.

Boating
Not only does Lewis and Clark Lake welcome boaters, but SAILBOATS can even stretch their legs here!

Playing
Playsets, sports courts, and more are scattered throughout the large state recreation area.

Disc Golfing
Try a challenging 18-hole course with views of the lake. No gear? Rent our discs for the day!

Paddling
Grab your canoe, kayak, paddleboard, or other equally awesome gear and get on the water at either lake!

Birdwatching
In addition to beautiful bald eagles, you can see cranes, pelicans, osprey, and so much more!
